Ons aanbod bestaat uit urban performing arts voor nieuwe generaties – Millennials en Gen ZY+. Urban is een omstreden woord. Voor ons is iets urban wanneer verschillende invloeden samen blenden in de jonge cultuur van Europese steden. Gekenmerkt door inclusiviteit en altijd in beweging. Dat gebeurde ook in Amsterdam, en daarmee ontstond ‘Damsco’. Het is niet Mokum – het traditionele, maar Damsco – de constante vernieuwing.

Sat’eh is the Arabic word for roof. In Arab cultures, life often unfolds on the roof: looking out at the world. For Ali Zanad, the roof symbolizes a sense of home. Iraq is a part of him, but so is the Netherlands. A research trip to Morocco, where he sought to experience the Arab culture he had long been away from, made him realize that he must search for that feeling within himself, no matter where he is. Ali translates this exploration into the dance performance Sat’eh.

Den Mi Wesu – meaning “in my bones” in Papiamentu – is a theatrical deep dive into the origins of spiritual experience and how rhythmic expressions amplify it. It involves an excavation of instruments, voice, and movement.
As a part of the new generation of diaspora descendant, Michael seeks a connection with his ancestors. The bond is derived from rhythm and spirituality, which he wants to explore through the stories and sounds that shaped the island.

In this duet, Liam McCall and Oscar Starink, two B-boys from the Underdogz crew, investigate what else is visible beneath the surface of a B-boy’s image and how deep they can delve. They push themselves physically, embodying the B-boy mentality of hard work and competition while blending it with the fragility of brotherhood. They create beautiful, controlled images by manipulating two light sources, allowing poetry to emerge in the process.

A man drags his companion around like a rag doll; a 70 kilo body tethered to him. Lost and looking for the way, he deploys the rag doll as a living Swiss army knife. Tap on his head and water comes out, climb on his shoulders to look around. But what if your companion no longer wants to play along? It really hurts when your head hits the concrete embodies in a humorous and poetic way how we all carry our history with us. In this physical performance you are immersed into an absurd world in which the internal struggle of a man becomes personified. Expect a deluge of images that reads like a poem and takes you to virtuosic acrobatic highlights.
